We were to support a client with mobility problems from the common lounge to the bathroom as she had become incontinent.
I pointed out to the new staff member that this operation fell under Moving and Handling and is to be carried out in accordance with the following pieces of legislation;
Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992.
The lifting Operations and lifting Equipment Regulations 1992 (LOLER).
The lifting Operations and lifting Equipment Regulations Regs 1998-
whose overall aim was to
• Promote “safe handling” for all employees and.
• Reduce injuries to its employees while at the same time providing the best quality care for anyone receiving care.
I pointed out to the new staff member that in line with the client’s care plan, the client was to be supported up from the chair, depending on her condition transferred to the wheel chair or supported to use her Zima frame, then moved to the bathroom. However, according to the handover notes, on the day in question, the client had looked very weak. Given this background, it was therefore imperative that there be at least 2 staff members to support the client.
I highlighted to the new staff member that as we carried out our task we were to carry out the following dynamic- specific risk assessments on the following-
