Battles of World War II


          America entered World War II after the attack on Pearl Harbor. From there, part of the war was fought in the Philippines with the capturing of Americans. The Bataan Death March played a big part regarding what happened in Philippines. The storming of Normandy also known as D-Day is the next big involvement for the American forces. This is a big victory for America and the Allies. The worst battle America is involved in is the Battle of the Bulge which took a great number of American soldier’s lives. Finally the war is ending because the United States dropped the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The events of World War II changed the way the United States is today.

          World War II made an everlasting impact on the United States with devastating events such as the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Bataan Death March, D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and the use of the atomic bomb. The effects of this war have changed the way the world views Americans and the United States as a powerful country.
Pearl Harbor
World War II started for the United States during Pearl Harbor. Just before 8:00 in the morning the Empire of Japan attacked the United States of America at Pearl Harbor Hawaii on December 7, 1941. “Overnight, the United States was forced to enter World War II, changing the course of the war and reshaping the world in ways that are still felt today” (Perlman, 2011).     The Empire of Japan dropped hundreds of bombs and special shallow water torpedoes, the fighter planes sank and destroyed dozens of ships like battleships to cruisers and demolished hundreds of planes (Perlman, 2011). This surprise attack was the cause for killing or wounding thousands of Americans. There are 1177 sailors that died in the USS Arizona when the Empire of Japan sank the ship.
