Leaders are the people who lead a society or organisations and usually elected from a poll. Gender is one of the factor that being considered in electing leaders. Until today, world class female leaders are elected and became as powerful as male leaders. In 2005, Germans put their faith on Angela Merkel to be their Chancellor. It’s proven that women started gaining trust form people to play such important roles in leading the country. In our modern society today, many female world-recognised leaders are being elected such as Prime Minister Julia Gillard of Australia. But can women make better leaders than men? I believe that women have both weakness and strength in leadership.

Women can’t make better leaders than men because of biological factors. Every single woman on earth that has gone through puberty will menstruate once in a month for every month of their life until they reach the menopause stage. During menstruation, a type of hormone called Estrogen is released. Estrogen is linked to mood disruptions that occur only in women that is premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and postpartum depression. This emotional disorder would affect women’s decision making also their leadership. Although it is only for a while and not permanently occurred, wrong decisions made by leaders could affect the whole system, country or organisation led by them. Other biological factor that has to be considered is their pregnancy period. Female leaders still can work like usual during early stages of pregnancy. The problem is when female leaders reach their late pregnancy stages, they need rest and unable to have a full focus on their leadership. Female leaders also need to rest for about four month after giving birth to their baby. These biological factors are the reasons why women can’t make better leaders than men.
