Back in my middle school days of D.A.R.E. class, I remember being told that pot was gateway drug to worse drugs, such as crack, cocaine, LSD and so on. However, in my 26 years I have come to the realization that drinking is just as much a first step to other drugs if not so more than marijuana. Marijuana has many short term effects that it inflicts on it users such as problems with memory loss, so most chronic abusers of marijuana have trouble learning due to their lack of memory. Anxiety and panic attacks are another example of short term effects marijuana has on its users. Also, chronic abusers of the drug frequently have colds, especially in the chest and tend to often cough up an awful lot of phlegm. There are several long term effects smoking marijuana can bring about which includes impairment of critical skills linked to memory, learning and attention. While the person is under the influence, they tend to laugh at almost anything and have glossy and bloodshot eyes....
