The Therapy and Learning Center-Kids is a center where they provide comprehensive early intervention and a daycare program (Article on Therapy&Learning). This center has children in ranges from birth to five years old. They offer education, therapy, and social services to children (Article on Therapy&Learning). They offer many early intervention services at this center. These services include pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and hydrotherapy.
The teachers at the center are highly trained to work with children and also have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Article on Therapy&Learning). The staff at the center were really involved with the children. The teachers also did several things to enhance physical and/or psychosocial development of the children ages two to three. They had the children perform hand hygiene between activities. They also helped their psychosocial development by giving the children time to interact with one another. We really did not get to see any selected therapy. However, one child was coming back from physical therapy and the teachers told us about the child’s condition and how physical therapy had improved his condition greatly.
I really enjoyed the observational experience. I had the opportunity to watch many activities being performed. First, I got to see the children interact and play in different parts of the classroom. Then, we all went outside to the playground so that the children could play. After playtime, we all went inside and sat in a circle on a rug. I was able to see the children engage in learning activities. These children are two to three so they are at a preschool age level. They are in the period of preoperational thought (Maternal Child Nursing 73). They begin to understand the perception of objects (Maternal Child Nursing 73).
