Teach India is a social initiative from the Times of India that brings together under-privileged children who are in need of education and people who can contribute a little time towards teaching them. It operates on a simple principle: If you are passionate about teaching, then this organization will put you in touch with underprivileged children who are willing to learn. There are different NGOs, corporates, schools and social organizations along with many individuals/volunteers who are already supporting this good cause. Teach India provides a platform for people to come forward and help to forever change the life of a child. A few hours make all the difference in changing a child’s destiny. Devoting a few hours in the week, either on weekdays or over the weekends can help make India a better place with a brighter future. People who have always wanted to be a part of the change they wanted to see in the country, now have a place to go – Teach India.

India, the second largest teaching country in the world, has a proud tradition of revering teachers because Indians believe that teachers are equal to God. From the toddlers in nursery schools to PhD students in different disciplines, everyone has teachers guiding them. Teach India aims to help underprivileged avail of the same opportunities available to you and me. They have facilitated a variety of programs, including basic education, support classes and even story-telling sessions, all of which include mainly simple topics that have to be taught to children mostly at primary school level. The teaching would be one-on-one or one teacher assigned to small groups of children. Teach-India ensures that a volunteer’s location and his / her time preference are taken into consideration before assigning a particular program to him / her.
