Functionalism is the belief that society has different groups that are all interdependent – these help to run society as a whole. Contrastingly, Marxism is about one class ruling the rest of them – the Bourgeoisie. They ‘uphold’ society by fooling the working class into believing everyone is equal, whereas, Functionalism says that everyone works together on the same level to work on a common goal – to uphold society.   A similarity between the two would be that they look at society as a whole rather than the individual – macro individualism.                                                                                                                                             If Marxism is about the upper class ruling the working class, then they would oppose feminism, which is about men controlling women, not about classes.
