Before the age of twenty one the brain is still developing and shouldn’t be destroyed with alcohol beverages. Early drinking can lead to early deaths; but some people become drinkers at an early age because of their social culture, not knowing it increase health and government laws.
Lowering the national drinking age to eighteen is not a good idea. It’s too many bad side effects, such as lower percent of high school graduates. Therefore there will be more unsuccessful people in the world. Drinking can also cause more health problems such as cancer of the mouth, throat, and the voice box. Women, who drink two or more drinks per day, increase their risk of developing breast cancer (Naik).
Some people think the national drinking age should be eighteen. If the drinking age was lowered, however, many teenagers would learn to drink responsibly (Calkins). It‘s said that lowering the drinking age will make individuals more responsible toward their own life. Also because a person is considered a responsible adult at eighteen, which mean they can vote, drive, and even be married. If the national drinking age isn’t lowered it may lead to binge drinking (Naik).
Even though all that may be true, I still feel that the national drinking age should stay at twenty one; just to eliminate unnecessary problems to teenagers. Most people that are eighteen still hang with sixteen and seventeen year olds, which means exposure to even younger age. I feel the younger the person the more problems they may cause because they’re under the influence. This may result in fewer students graduating Junior High School.
