Polygamy devalues woman
I believe that marriage is a sacred commitment between two people and if it should happen, for the reproduction of children. I value myself enough to know that I deserve to have the love of one man and not to have to share it with any other woman. I do not understand why a woman would want her husband to have another wife, to me that is adultery which the bible forbids. I am not a religious person but I know that polygamy would not be a lifestyle that I would willingly choose. I also would not enter into a marriage without knowing and loving the man first. The only benefit I could see to having another wife would essentially be for the help she could provide around the house and with the children, but that would not be a reason for me to enter into it. Marriage is hard enough between two people let alone having another person come into it.
It's dehumanizing to women.
Women are not meant to share a mate. They are genetically engineered to have one, and protect them. It's not only degrading, but sexist. What type of woman would want to share her man with several other women? It's like a breeding colony, where the women are nothing but incubators and items to men.
Man or woman
A person can not love two other person equal. Who says they can is a lie. Even mothers do not love their children equally. If a person is the second in the other person's love, she/he will feel betrayed. Jealousy, anger and revenge will follow. Any human being has these reactions. To not have them, somebody must be trained (indoctrinated), threaten with real or made up stories or have their feelings forbidden under the law(e.G. In the islam where a woman can not have a say in her husbands relations). To say that polygamy will help with cleaning or cooking what a disgrace. Hire a cleaning person, buy already made food. You can't say "oh but I do not have money for that". If you can have another spouse than you can have a cleaner and a cook. And as for "oh...
