Playing Video Games Has a Lot of Advantages
Nowadays, video games are very popular among our society. Everyday and every time, a lot of people play video games. Men or women, boys or girls, started from the children, teenage, adult or even the elder are playing video games. The platforms are various, started from handheld console like Gameboy and PSP, cellular phone, home game console like PS3 and XBOX 360 and also the desktop and notebook. Most of the game are played offline or without any internet connection. Started from the legendary simple game, Pong from ATARI in 1980s till the most sophisticated game in High Definition and got the best visual experience in the world, Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 and XBOX 360 as stated by Chris “Atom” DeAngelus that “Final Fantasy XIII is a fun and well-put-together RPG with an interesting combat system and top-notch visuals.” (Chris “Atom” DeAngelus, March 8, 2010, para. 30). But as the internet growing rapidly, a lot of people play online games such as Multimedia Massive Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) like Ragnarok Online and Rising Force Online and also web and flash based online games like The Crims and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. Also, a lot of offline games can go online now to get more content and storyline.
Many people think that playing video games are useless or has a lot of disadvantages. But they are wrong. It because playing video games has a lot of advantages, especially online games. It because online games can help us improve our foreign language. In online games, we can interact with other player from all corners of the world. We can chat and do a lot of interaction with them. We can say “Hi” to everyone that online so we can get more acquaintances and friends. So, if we play online games a lot, it can train us to use foreign language and able to write or even speak foreign language well. We can get lesson and fun in the same time right? It’s a double advantage.
