Below is an essay on "Personal Responsibility" from Anti Essays, your source for research papers, essays, and term paper examples.

Personal responsibility, in my opinion, is the key to being successful in your personal, professional, and education life. To successfully achieve personal responsibility you must hold yourself responsible for your own actions. Someone that is responsible accepts the consequences’ for their own actions that they choice to make.   Also to achieve personal responsibility you need to practice discipline and time management. If you can master these skills not only will it help you in everyday life, but it will help you with success in college. For myself, personal responsibility is what pushes me day after day to achieve the things I do. In order for me to accomplish things, I must know how to take responsibility for my actions and understand the consequences that are a result for those actions.

A corollary idea is that because we cause our actions, we can be held morally accountable or legally liable. Personal responsibility can be contrasted to the idea that human actions are caused by conditions beyond the agent's control. Since the late 19th-century, personal responsibility has become increasingly associated with political conservatism and libertarianism. More recently, personal responsibility has been associated with the reform of social welfare programs (e.g. in the Personal Responsibility and Welfare Reform Act of 1996). The earliest known English use of the phrase is by Massachusetts Rep. Nathaniel Gorham at the U.S. Constitutional Convention on July 18, 1787.[1] (Riebling, 2010)
The relationship between personal responsibility and college success is you cannot have one without the other. The student must realize that they alone have the control over whether or not they succeed in school. Only you can control what you get out of college. For college success, you must be able to set goals for yourself and only you are responsible...
