  1. What causes this disease?
Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

  2. What are the symptoms?
  * Sweating at night
  * Fever
  * Chills
  * Coughing up blood or sputum
  * No appetite
  * Bad cough that lasts 3 weeks or longer

  3. How is it transmitted?
Tuberculosis is transmitted through the air from one person to another. It is put into the air when a   person with TB disease of the lungs or throat cough, sneezes, speaks, or sings.
  4. How is it prevented?
The TB disease can be prevented by adopting preventive treatment measures in people who have latent tuberculosis. Taking precautions at hospitals and clinics, and reducing exposure when a person is infectious can also prevent this disease.
  5. Is there a treatment?
TB disease is treated by taking several drugs for 6-9 months. There a currently 10 drugs used to treat tuberculosis. The First-Line anti-TB agents are:
  * Isoniazid (INH)
  * Rifampin (RIF)
  * Ethambutol (EMB)
  * Pyrazinamide (PZA)

  6. Is there a cure?
In more than 9/10 patients, TB can be cured with appropriate treatment. Treatment usually combines several antibiotic drugs.
  7. Who is most at risk for contracting the disease?
  * Has HIV infection
  * Has been recently infected with TB bacteria
  * Abuses alcohol or uses illegal drugs
  * Was not treated correctly for TB...
