Plot outline
The story is about Parvez and his son Ali. Parvez is not a believer. The father is very worried about his son Ali being a religious fanatic. Parvez has been taxi driver for 20 years, during his working, he has met Bettina, who is a prostitute, and now they have a relationship. Ali sacrifices all things for the benefit of Islam. Ali later confronts his father about his unreligious behaviour, which his father brushes off by saying that they live in Britain and have to assimilate. After a later confrontation in the taxi, wherein Ali had talked trash about Bettina being a prostitute, they get home and Ali goes into his room to pray. A short while after Parvez goes into his room and starts wailing on Ali, who doesn’t fight back, and Ali asks “who’s the fanatic now?”.
