There are various cultural exchange and interconnectedness between many different societies around the world. When diversity and inclusion is included within a classroom, the teaching styles become very unique. When a teacher teaches students about the importance of inclusion while in a multicultural classroom, it can help the students to better understand stereotypes. Moreover, it can help the students learn about each other cultural background. As an aspiring teacher, it would be important to promote diversity in the classroom so that it can be a comfortable haven for the students to learn.
Moreover, while working in a multicultural classroom, it is important to teach and accommodate each student so that he and she can receive the best possible education. There are many activities that one can teach to ensure that all students’ needs are met. Many students come from various backgrounds, so it is very important to construct lessons and activities that are conducive to their environment. A second grade language arts lesson or activity that is suitable for a multicultural classroom is using multicultural books. A great book to use is Cinderella. This book comes in many different languages. So, to accommodate students from another country, the teacher can assign lessons for them about their interpretation about the book. For the English students, being reintroduced to the story will help them with repetition. For the special needs students, the teacher can pair them with a fellow classmate who can serve as a peer helper.
Subsequently, another activity a teacher can use in a multicultural classroom is to use specific holidays from various cultures and show how they celebrate it.
