Attention getter: Do you know how your children will be taken care of financially in the event of your death?
Thesis: The purpose of life insurance can help to insure your family's need in the event of your death.
Credibility statement: According to Steven D. Wright in the 2010 article Benefits of Life Insurance, he states "there are many benefits of ensuring that you have life insurance in place. The primary reason for taking out life insurance is usually to ensure that your family are in a position of financial security in the unlikely and unfortunate event of your premature death".
Reveal topic: Should you purchase life insurance?
Relevance: Each day people die from illness, gunshot wounds or freak accidents, leaving one's family devastated emotionally and financially.
Preview: We will look at the need of life insurance, how relatively inexpensive it is, and how life insurance can be used to build wealth.

I. In the event of your death, you owe it to your children to ensure they are well taken care of.
A. Growing numbers of young people are dying every day, through accidents, murders, or unforeseen illness.
1. A growing number of children are not only being left behind as orphans, but also left in poverty.
2. We've all heard of the tragic shooting on King Drive several weeks ago. A young mother was killed after purchasing a birthday cake for her 2 year old, more than likely leaving behind no safety net.
B. This problem deserves a second look because we are leaving behind a generation of children...
