The book Kindertransport is based during world war 2 and is about a young girl being transported to Britain. The book was very interesting and for somebody who didn’t know what happened to the Jewish people and I would class it as an eye opener, the book has focused to a poor child called Eva who had to be evacuated to Britain.
Eva’s parents failed to make it to Britain but Eva manages to meet up with her mother later on during the war. The book has a weird layout as it goes back and forth between present and past because the little girl Eva decides to change her name to Faith, you see the character Faith when she is older.
Eva has the idea that she has not seen her birth mother for so many years she must be dead, as she failed to escape Germany, so she decides to call Lil her mum and this changes from Eva to Faith so Lil is still the same person and age but Eva’s character changes.
From never reading this book before I have learned about what the young Jewish children and the adults had to go through during WW2, it is appalling to see human beings go through this and have to evacuate to another country because of one powerful man. Eva manages to find a better life style which will not result in any pain or suffering like most other Jewish children went through. I think the book could be closely related to Anne Frank’s diary because it is about a poor child during these horrible times but the one difference is that Eva manages to escape Germany compared to Anne Frank.
