Question 1. Why did you order armed forces over the Nullification crisis?
Answer: I considered "the power to annul a law of the United States, assumed by one State, incompatible with the existence of the Union, contradicted expressly by the letter of the Constitution, unauthorized by its spirit, inconsistent with every principle on which it was founded, and destructive of the great object for which it was formed. I also declared that South Carolina was almost committing treason, and would not be tolerated.
Question 2: what was your purpose on trying to get rid of the Electoral College?
The Electoral College is not fair. In my first attempt at Presidency, I was robbed by the Electoral College. I had won the majority of the people’s votes but the Electoral College decided to give the presidency to clay. I am a man who advocates for the people and rules for the people. The presidency should be chosen by the people, not by the Electoral College, after all, the entire president does lead the people.
Question 3: with the spoil system, did you look to see if the men were educated?
I did not, I trusted their judgment; after all they did support me and I thought it would only be fair to appoint them a position that they chose. It did not matter to me if they were educated or not, if they supported me, and wanted a job, they got the job. I also wanted to make sure they continued to support me, with giving them government positions, it ensured them to continue working with my party.
Question 4: if you say you are the “people’s President” why did you form Indian Removal Act of 1830, the Indians are part of our country?
I have been working on a treaty to get rid of the Indians before my presidency, with the trial of tears, my dream came true, and I was able to relocate almost 5000 Cherokee Indians.
