Equalities and discrimination law
The Equality Act came into force on 1 October 2010. This act alone holds over
116 legalisations. This act was made to protect individuals equal rights and
make opportunity for all individuals.
The nine main legalisation for this act:
•the Equal Pay Act 1970
•the Sex Discrimination Act 1975
•the Race Relations Act 1976
•the Disability Discrimination Act 1995
•the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003
•the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003
•the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006
•the Equality Act 2006, Part 2
•the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007
The employment rights act
The employments right act 1996. This is a written contract for
employees to sign. It will state thier rights within the
organisation they are working in.
Six of the rights are as following:
•Sickness payment, maternity leave, paternity leave, flexible working.
