During the 70’s a popular song called “Life is a Gamble” was introduced. Apart of the lyrics was:
“Life is a gamble, oh baby….
Where you win or lose ….
I had to play it, for the sake of me and mine
Lord, I pray I hit it big this time”
I personal agree with the words of this song that life is definitely a gamble and we all can benefit from the gambling arena. Gambling is define as the wagering of money or something of material value referred to as "the stakes" on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Gambling is one of the premiere entertainments worldwide. It has provided society with numerous assistances regarding issues such as tourism, employment, charities, government and better health.
Tourism which is our main industry provides areas that host businesses like casinos with added tourism which means huge profits for society. Therefore this adds up to a big boost in the local economy. Employment along with the tourism aspect of gambling come the fact that more jobs will be created. Web shop operators will consequently reduce the unemployment rate and result in additional indirect revenue through the payment of individual taxes by persons employed at these entities. Las Vegas is known as the “gambling hub” that attributes over 60% of employment due to gambling. In the Bahamas the web shops employs more than 3,000 workers across the country and pay out more than $14 million annually in National Insurance contributions. In each gaming related business throughout this country are our mothers, fathers, sons and daughters all making an honest living and taking care of their personal responsibilities with the sweat of their brow. I was once employed at one of the leading web shop. Imagine the endless entrepreneurial opportunities that can come about as a result of legalized gaming in The Bahamas.
