Familial Likelihood and Retention Rates
I. Introduction
The purpose of this research paper is to determine how psychosocial development is affected in people who are born into families where drug use is prevalent and to determine the correlation in development of those people relative to the factoring drug use, this study will also determine how the likelihood of those born into such families to become drug users can be decreased. This study is very important due to the fact that identifying trends that lend to a greater chance of people becoming drug users in the hopes that prevention can be better planned and understood, and different types of treatment can be administered in more effective ways. It is my hypothesis that early intervention and support systems that give those from broken homes a strong support system that will likely enable these unfortunately affected people to have a greater possibility of becoming drug free adults.
Another reason for the importance of this study is that if the data that is gleaned from this study points to a certain age range being the most vital in development of habits, attitudes, or traits that lead to eventual drug use is identified, then treatments and methods for development of programs and types of treatment to benefit these children, adolescents, and entire families will be more readily developed. This will benefit the social science community in many ways, treating drug use early-potentially before the habits that plague many for their entire lives-before the habits have an opportunity to develop, can be a life changing thing for many people as well as many families.
