Eastern Religious Philosopher Quotation

            Plato’s most distinguished pupil was the philosopher known as Aristotle (384-322 B.C.E.), a Greek philosopher and scientist. Aristotle was a teacher to one of the greatest individuals known to mankind and had wrote many books relating to metaphysics as well as his painstaking attention to nature although Aristotle was not a main staple of any decent literature program (McGraw-Hill, 2008). Aristotle’s quote “Education is the best provision for old age (Wikiquote, 2011),” is one of his most familiar to the world and is an accurate representation of his ideas, historical significance, and key contributions in my personal opinion because he was able to teach Alexander the Great at an older age to turned out to become one of the most powerful of his time by conquering all from what Aristotle had taught him. Aristotle had also extended the limits of knowledge in virtually every existing subject which are now deemed as the province of philosophy in today’s world (McGraw-Hill, 2008).   Socrates (470-399 B.C.E.) was a stonemason with a very keen mind who lived in the fifth century B.C.E. Socrates had shared the same philosophical interests and practices of the Sophists who was by far one of the most brilliant debaters and was idolized by young Athenians everywhere. He had discovered the essential nature of knowledge, justice, beauty, goodness, and traits of good character as well as had the method of discovery in which he followed named after him which can now be referred to as the Socratic method (McGraw-Hill, 2008). Socrates’ well known quote “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing (BrainyQuote, 2011),” is without doubt an accurate representation of him and his tributes to philosophy because he was a great role model to those who were younger and less educated than he.
