The film takes place in the start 70’s. The film is located in a small town called Salford (close to Manchester). It is a typical British working class town. The father George immigrated to England from Pakistan, where he was born and married to a woman. He fell in love in a Caucasian woman and married her, and then he suddenly became father of six sons and one daughter.
George the fish-and-ship shop and the father expects his boys to follow the family tradition and habits from the Islamic religion. In the beginning of the film, we are spectators to Georges’ eldest boys wedding, but suddenly he runs away, do not come back.
This runaway makes the father sad, and his mood has a big influence on the family. He is actually the head of the family, and he makes the decisions. He is keen to marry his other two boys away, and it has to be a good Pakistan family with beautiful daughters.
One day when the two older boys are told from the youngest that there are going to be married, and the father George has arrange the weddings with a Pakistan family, they get to tired of the religious and traditions, and they do not even get allow to live and to determine their own lives. Then they take on a getaway trip to the huge town where the eldest brother lives and they seek him. He is a gay and together with a the male he is living with, they are making their living by selling and designing exclusive hats.
The family with the two girls, who the father has arranged the weddings with, is on visit at their home home to introduce the couples to each other. The elder boys are not very thrilled with the girls’ appearance, but reversed the family with the two girls show a lot of happiness about the boys.
During the visit occur quarrels between the two families. One confrontation is the mother of the two girls does not think that the space in the house will be an issue, and she therefor suggests that the two couples should live with them in another town.
