LAB OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this lab was to construct a circuit with a pn-junction diode and study its effects on the circuit when placed in forward bias. A potential was applied to the circuit ranging from 0-10 volts, current was measured at each voltage increment, recorded and the readings were used to create a graph showing the characteristic curve of the diode. The data and the graph verified the diode does not instantly turn on when a 0.7-volt potential was applied.

DATA AND CALCULATED RESULTS
  1. A series diode circuit was constructed with a 1kΩ resistor, a diode and set up on a breadboard.

  2. A power supply was attached to the circuit, the output was increased from 0-2 volts in increments of 0.25, voltage and current was recorded at each incremental voltage change.
