A tour through the cell

To start off the tour of an animal cell, we are going to start off with the cell membrane. The cell membrane is the outside part of the cell. Its probably one of many important parts of the cell. Moving on next is ribosomes. They play a role in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. They are also packed of RNA. Another part would be the mitochondria. The mitochondria provides the energy a cell needs to move, divide, produce secretary products, they are pretty much the power centers of the cell. Moving onto the smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum. It’s a vast network of membrane-bound vesicles and tubules called the ER. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is a pebbled part of the cell that has proteins collected on them. Next on the list of parts of the cells are the Golgi bodies. Golgi bodies are a membrane-bound structure with a single membrane. They are a stack of membrane-bound vesicles hat are important in packaging macromolecules for transport elsewhere in the cell. Moving through the cell next is the cell wall. Unfortunately an animal cell d oes not have a cell wall, but it is a layer of non-living, tough, yet flexible material called cellulose. Next are lysosomes. They contain hydrolytic enzymes necessary for intracellular digestion. Lysosomes content are carefully released into the vacuole around the bacteria and serve to kill and digest those bacteria’s. The nucleus.   Its probably the most obvious organelle in any eukaryotic cell. It communicates with the surrounding cytosol, numerous nuclear pore. Here comes the nucleolus. The nucleolus is the prominent structure in the nucleus. It produces ribosomes, centriole, it’s a ring of nine groups of fused microtubules. Next, vacuoles. It’s a membrane-bound sack that plays a role in intracellular digestion as well, and the release of cellular waste products. Once again, animals do not have chloroplasts, but it captures energy to provide for the cell. Lastly, the cytoskeleton. It helps to...
