Bipolar disorders are one of several medical conditions that affect people all around the world.   Bipolar disorder is known by many medical names including:   manic depression, manic-depressive disorder, manic-depressive illness, bipolar mood disorder, as well as bipolar affective disorder.   All of these terms refer to the same condition.   This disorder affects the way a person’s brain functions.   It causes usual mood swings.   You can go from being extremely happy to being extremely upset within a matter of seconds.   In the United States, it is estimated that more than 17.4 million adults are diagnosed with some form of bipolar disorder.   It affects both men and women alike. This means that 1 out of every 7 people have bipolar disorder.   Therefore there’s a good chance that you are someone you may know is dealing with this disorder.   How are so many people diagnosed with bipolar disorder?   Is there a cure?
Bipolar disorder is a very frightening experience for many.   People often are not even aware that they even have this disorder.   Many believe that they are just simply depressed, so they don’t seek treatment. Diagnosing Bipolar disorder is very difficult.   It is often mistaken for other illnesses.   There are many signs and symptoms of bipolar disorder.   A most obvious ones are loss of interest in usual activities, thoughts of death, irritable mood, prolonged sadness, reckless behavior,   or feelings of guilt or worthlessness.   Bipolar disorder also tends to run in ones family, it is carried in their genes.   So if you have a family member that has been diagnosed with this disorder, you should seek a physician advice if you have even a slightest thought that you may have this disorder.   You should talk to a doctor whom has some experience in diagnosing this type of disorder.   You will undergo an examination, an interview, as well as lab tests to determine if you are indeed bipolar.   Most people with bipolar disorder can be helped when they are proper diagnosed...
