Biblical Worldview essay
This essay is at the very root of Christian faith and has been debated throughout the history of man. The belief that mankind is created in the image of God. I am fairly new to the Christian faith and I am still working on a chosen vocation, but I will tell you how this one belief affects my interaction with people now opposed to when I was a non-believer. I have always been drawn to helping others even before I chose to follow my own advice and live righteously. I am pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, but being a Mentoring is my passion.
The belief that God created mankind in his own image should be an inspiration to all. Just the thought of having a fraction of the greatness that is God within me lifts me beyond measure. Psalms 139:14 express my feeling perfectly, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Mankind has so much untapped potential because we foolishly idolize each other instead of praising God for making use so wonderfully. We spend so much time and energy thinking of ways to improve ourselves in the eyes of others when the eyes of God or the only ones that truly matter. Romans 1:23-24 explains it perfectly, “Professing themselves to be wise, they become fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.”
Youth mentors have a unique opportunity to influence today’s youth from a Christ centered worldview. If they can teach instill this foundational belief in the youth then society would gradually start to change and hopefully become better. I firmly believe that our children are the best hope for mankind’s restoration in the future if God’s word and laws are taught to them before they are consumed by the temptations of the world.
