In schools, the majority of students have involved themselves in extra-curricular activities. Performing arts such as choir, theatre and even marching band become the source of a pupil’s happiness and escape during their high school lives. Up until recently, schools encouraged students to try new things and broaden their abilities. Now, more and more schools make the decision to cut off performing arts budgets to make way for more academic classes. These actions carry a deplorable reputation. The performing arts provide a safety net for kids. While being involved in the performing arts, students develop many skills that can be useful throughout their entire lives.   Some of these skills include critical thinking, memorization   skills , and overall teaching students necessary social abilities needed to function throughout life. If schools cut performing arts budgets to fill in more core classes , students will become unhappy and refuse to endure seven   hours of hard work, every day .   To keep the students in school and on task, schools should not cut funding for the fine arts programs. With the fine arts, student master skills other students couldn’t possibly imagine. Although, some may say keeping the performing arts   wastes money, they do not understand what goes on within the art and what kind of proficiency takes place over all.
President John F. Kennedy once said “ (we choose) to do things … because they will measure the best of our energy and skill.” When learning how to problem solve, we come across tasks that we wouldn’t accomplish without thinking. Without having the choice to do performing arts, students cannot test themselves to their greatest abilities.   Mastering the beautiful, unforgettable ability to perform requires participating in tasks usually unheard of.
