Nudity: Expression of Beauty or Pornography
The McGrath Sculpture
      Nudity has been a part of the art world for many centuries with artworks from famous artists, such as, Michelangelo and Bernini.   It has been displayed in sculptures, paintings and photographs which all have been displayed in public places, such as, museums and in magazines.   Yet, there is still a controversy when nudity is used and on display in various forms of artworks.   This paper will explore when the public views an artist has crossed the lines from expression of beauty into the world of pornography and I will be using a sculpture by a Washington artist and professor, Michael McGrath.
Critical Analysis of the McGrath Sculpture
      Below is the critical art analysis of the McGrath sculpture which will be used throughout the paper’s discussion on the exploration of the controversy surrounding nudity in art.
Naming and describing the facts
      The artwork used for this analysis is a bronze sculpture of a female titled the Paradigm Shift by a Washington artist and university art professor, Michael McGrath.   The figure of the sculpture is nude and appears to be kneeling as her thighs and buttocks are bent behind her legs using the raised heals of the feet to rest her body while her left arm is bent over her left thigh at the elbow and her right...
