Argumentative Letter of Complaint: How morning assemblies every morning are a waste of potential time
Have you ever slept through assemblies in the morning without even bothering to listen? How would you feel if the teachers prodded you awake every time your lids were only halfway down to their destination? I firmly believe that when the speaker is not motivated to make interesting speeches in front of the school, morning assemblies are a waste of time, as nobody actually takes the speaker seriously.
Since our school leans towards Christian beliefs, morning assemblies usually have to somehow relate to Christianity. The problem remains that the people who have other religions would usually find no interest whatsoever towards Christian beliefs, obviously with the reason that it is not their own religion.
Upon asking a few teachers’ opinions, including the speakers, they believe that to start the day with some goodness from the bible brings luck to the day and lets them start it with a positive attitude. This type of thinking is just assuming that what applies to one’s self would be the same to someone else. Just because a few Christians start their days with a more positive attitude from a reading of the bible does NOT mean that people who do not believe in Christianity think the same way. Lots of Christians actually would not find the readings of the bible helpful to their attitudes as many have not even really read the bible in the first place and are not interested to do so.
Since only one third of the world’s population are Christians, then those who have read the Christian bible thoroughly would be less than that. Although our school is Christian, our students do not apply because of its Christian beliefs, but for the lives of their future.
