The video “Meet Your Meat” is the first of my list. The purpose of the video is to convince people to look back on what we are eating. The meat we eat once was living creature. The video addresses the way the animals are treated to grow them as well as the way they slaughter them. Chickens, turkeys, cattle, cows, calves, pigs are the animals that are covered in this videos. The common treatment that the companies do to the animals is abusing them. Some of the scenes in the movie are so violent. Even though the video was edited the way that makes colors and sound faded, we can feel the suffering and the pain of the animal being slaughtered. In the end, the narrator convinces the audience: “Please think about what you’ve seen. Every time we sit down to eat, we would make a choice. Please choose vegetarianism. Do it for the animals. Do it for the environment. And do it for your health.”
In the next undercover video “Investigation Reveals Filth, Cruelty to Cows at Land O'Lakes Supplier”, I see the more detail on the way the giant companies produce milk from the cows in Pennsylvania. Cows that can’t walk are violently handled by using electro-shocks to force them. The weak cows, such as cow number 717, are usually end up in slaughter floor or leave to death. The reason is the bad, dirty environment of the dairy farm. They are seldom cleaned. In the movie, cow number 95 dies 4 days within giving birth.
The third video I’m choosing to watch is “They were forgotten…” This video is a serial of photos about the horses that are abused by the people. Even though there is a warning at the beginning of the video about graphic images, I feel very up set and scared from the photos. There are a lot of wounded, death horses due to the abuse of their owners. Similar to the weak cows, weak horses are also killed for meat. The video is well conducted at the end by showing happy photos of the horse and what they should be treated.
