I came to the United States in 2003. I came from Africa , in Kenya Nairobi where culture and race was very different. Kenyan didn't look the same, or even come from the same ethnic group. Growing up in Kenya I knew little about Race.I knew there was different types of people because I saw people who very dark, some brown and others were very light skinned, like me. I started wondering If Kenyans believe in differently than my people (Muslim) .When I was just a kid, I decided to speak African specifically Swahili. I met this african man who spoke Swahili. I was impressed with the language and I wanted to learn more. I don’t remember much about learning Swahili but I do remember about Race. Word for word but he did say that different cultures have then Muslims. Overall Kenyan’s behave different from Muslim . That made me realize the Race I have inside myself and my beliefs that are uniquely mine. No wonder my family does things differently than other families other Somalis.
American culture is way more known than Somali culture. Thats why people notice there is alot of race in this world. Without race people would would not know who they really are and what they stand for , or even living more. I believe this world needs race in it because It's motivating to have purpose in our day, and they can keep you going through the ups and downs of life.
