This essay analyzes the reasons for recent unprecedented growth of voters’ support for Hungarian center-right party FIDESZ (Hungarian Civic Union). Fidesz has been one of the most dynamic and popular political parties in Hungary, though since 2002 it has been in opposition to post-Communist MSZP (Hungarian Socialist Party). During the last decade Hungarian political life turned into a competition of two major parties – Fidesz and MSZP. Fidesz, under the leadership of Viktor Orban, applied a successful strategy of mobilizing conservatism and reached a high level of communication with Hungarian society. The main ambition of this party is to become a movement representing the interests of entire Hungarian nation and defending the public good for all Hungarians. By 2010 the popularity of Fidesz has significantly increased, what might result in unprecedented for East Central Europe result – when single party starts to dominate the entire Parliament.
Rise of FIDESZ: Complete Reconstruction of Hungarian Political Scene.

At present moment it seems that the Parliamentary elections in April 2010 in Hungary will strongly change the political scene of Hungary – it may become the only country of the region with a party that totally dominate all politics and have constitutional majority in the Parliament. In my essay I argue that such a powerful rise of Fidesz popularity (from 40% up to 70%) is caused by two main tendencies - by reaction of population on ineffective and contradictory policy of MSZP, which was complicated by Global Financial Crisis, and by successful long-term strategy of party development of Fidesz under the rule of Viktor Orban.
