A Plot Analysis of The Homecoming
The story’s main event is when his brother came back to the Philippines from Los Angeles California after a dozen of years. He took up Law because it is what their father wanted for him but then he preferred music or philosophy. He now have a nurse wife and that’s the reason why he stay for good in United states when he had a delayed flight from Los Angeles, his baggage could not be transferred to Manila. That’s why when he arrived he didn’t have his baggage with him, it serves as a “pasalubong” for his relatives. He observed that his brother has changed a lot, he became irritated when his older brother answered him in a wrong way. They went to Quiapo and Escolta for lunch and his older brother wanted to go to a mami-and-siopao place, he used to eat when he studied in University of Sto. Tomas. After their lunch, his brother want to go to a bookstore named “Azcarraga” but it’s now called “Claro M. Recto”, since then they shared opinions, and all he only knew is nostalgia for his country. They went to the international airport to release his baggage and they stay there in a minute, before his brother got the baggage. The problem was, they didn’t agree on a place to meet and they can’t find each other, until he saw his brother with his baggage and when they are together the man pulled the suitcase out of the trunk and as a luck the driver’s picture and license number are displayed and they felt fine. Until that time his older brother wanted to stay in Hillton and stayed in silence. When they arrived at Hillton his brother decided to go back Los Angeles it’s because the midnight incident in the airport.
The events were exciting because of the story’s conflict and the characters; characters are very strange that make the reader to be critical thinker also the story was credible, we can actually believe in this kind of story because it is now happened in here in our own country.
